According to our wedding checklist, Zac and I should have already set up meetings with potential officiants and hired someone to marry us on the big day. We decided a long time ago that we wanted someone we knew and loved to perform the ceremony so, even though we hadn't asked that person yet, we crossed this item off of our list a long time ago. I mentioned a while back that after we got engaged, Zac and I knew immediately who we wanted to officiate. We wanted to wait until the perfect moment to ask this person if they would do us the honor of marrying us on our wedding day, and that perfect moment came during Zac's surprise birthday party.
So who did we pick? Dave Rogers. :)
Dave and baby Amelia.
The Rogers and Chapman families have been friends for years. Zac's parents, Mark and Tammie, are close friends with Dave and his wife Leslie. The families have shared holidays and special occasions together. Throughout my relationship with Zac I have had the pleasure of spending a few Christmas dinners with the Rogers family. Leslie Rogers is quite the Martha Stewart and her party planning skills are incredible. I have a few things to learn from this sweet lady.
The summer before Zac's senior year in high school Dave was working on building a beautiful new home for his family and he recruited Zac to help with the process. Zac has some great memories and stories about his time working for Dave. The two were remembering some of these stories at Zac's birthday party when Zac and I asked Dave if he would marry us next May.
Dave seemed delighted by our request and immediately said he would love to marry us. Zac and I are thrilled that Dave will be performing the ceremony on our wedding day. We can't imagine another person doing the job so we are very happy that Dave accepted! We look forward to meeting with Dave and discussing plans for the ceremony.
Thank you Dave!
Dave after being sworn in for his new position as Madera County Supervisor of District #2.
